It is possibly Inglemoor or Lakeside. State Team Championships: March 1-2, 2019 The site is to be announced (likely Interlake). Details will end up on http://www.whsca.org/ . Randy Kaech Posted in Events | Leave a comment State Team Results, WOWZA Posted on March 5, 2018 by barry Hello Washington State HS chess club advisors and friends, The two day long chess extravaganza known as the 2018 Washington State High School Chess Team Championships reached its incredible conclusion tonight, and it was one for the record books! The air kept getting thicker and the tension higher as the last few games in the final round were concluding. An expanding number of coaches and players were deducing or being informed just how extremely close this championship was becoming. When the dust had settled after five rounds of play, lo and behold … five teams were in a tie for first, each scoring 18.0 points out of a possible 25.0 ! The WHSCA rules have much verbage on breaking ties, including a mandatory speed chess playoff if two teams are tied for first (it’s happened at least twice), but nothing addressing how to break a five way tie for first. After a coach’s conference, it was decided to declare all five schools co-champions. The Ollie Cup gets to travel around this year! Your 2018 State Champs are therefore Lakeside HS, Newport HS, Garfield HS, Interlake HS, and Bellevue HS. Congratulations one and all! Posted in Events | Leave a comment Ratings Server Updated Friday 12/15 Posted on December 15, 2017 by barry The NWSRS tournament reports, student ratings and school reports have been moved to a new web server today. The work is complete and you can use everything on the website. There are a few minor wrinkles that I continue to iron out. I haven’t seen anything that would cause real problems. I’ll update this message later after the last few fixes are done. Thanks for your patience! All fixes were completed by the end of Saturday 12/17. Please let me know if you spot anything strange.
